Ethernet 1 setup

A cable between the Ethernet adapter on the DINGO device and the local area network, has to be connected for this setup to work.

This second Ethernet port also needs to be activated, before it can be configured.

  1. Activate Ethernet 1

The Ethernet 1 is disabled by default. If the Ethernet 1 is not activated, then the Activate button will be enabled in the Ethernet 1 setup section.

Click the Activate button to active the Ethernet 1 adapter.

  2. Setup Ethernet 1

Then determine if a static IP should be used or DHCP:

Static or DHCP: This radio item group determines if the Ethernet setup should use DHCP or Static IP. If DHCP is select then the DINGO device will acquire IP, subnet mask and gateway automatically from a DHCP server on the network. If Static is selected then the user has to fill in the appropriate information for IP address, subnet mask and gateway.

IP address: The IP address that the DINGO device will use on the network.

Subnet mask: The subnet mask for the network that the DINGO device is connected to.

Gateway: The IP address of the router on the network that the DINGO device is connected to.

  3. For the changes to take effect then save the changes and reboot the DINGO device.

Deactivate Ethernet 1

If the Ethernet 1 adapter should not be used, then click the Deactivate button and remember to reboot the DINGO for changes to take effect.

Remember:

When activating or deactivating the Ethernet 1 and doing any setup changes - remember to save changes and reboot the DINGO device for the changes to take effect.

The DINGO-Stack uses the first Ethernet port (eth0) by default as communication on BACnet networks. The second Ethernet port is usually activated when there is a need to use the first Ethernet port (eth0) for Internet traffic and the second Ethernet port (eth1) for communication on a dedicated BACnet network. To configure the DINGO-Stack to use the second Ethernet port (eth1) for BACnet communication , follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the Services tab.
  2. Select the DINGO-Stack profile service.
  3. Click the Main config. file... button.
  4. Find the line "export BACNET_IFACE="

  5. Remove the # for the beginning of the line and make sure the line reads: export BACNET_IFACE=eth1
  6. Then save the changes and restart the DINGO-Stack
